Canterbury Historical Association's Laurence and Majorie Lyle Commemorative Lecture

The Laurence and Majorie Lyle Commemorative Lecturethis year is entitled 'A CIty Fit for the Queen: Elizabeth I's visit to Canterbury in 1573'. It takes place on Thursday 5th February at 7pm in Clagett Auditorium, Canterbury Cathedral, CT1 2EG.

The talk will be given by Cressida Williams who is the Archives and Library Manager at Canterbury Cathedral where she leads the team managing and providing access to the written collections and historic object collections of the cathedral. Keeping with the local history theme of our annual Lyle Lectures, Cressida will examine Elizabeth I’s visit to Canterbury in September 1573 which included the Queen’s 40th birthday celebrations.

We would appreciate if any of you could put up posters or share details of the talk online. A reminder that talks are free for members and students but £5 for non-members. Membership is £10 per annum.
